What matters in this role

  • The size of what you have run: budget, headcount, duration, number of workstreams. This is how seniority is read.
  • Outcomes, including the ones that went badly and what you did about them. A project manager who has only ever delivered on time is not believed.
  • Which parts you personally owned, and which the project office handled.
  • Certifications, but underneath the evidence rather than instead of it.

Common mistakes

  • A summary made entirely of methodology names — agile, Prince2, waterfall, SAFe — which says nothing about what you can run.
  • Listing projects without their size, so a CHF 40,000 internal tool reads the same as a CHF 4 million programme.
  • Claiming delivery for a programme where you ran one workstream. It comes apart in the interview.
  • No mention of stakeholders, which is most of the job.
