Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to information about you when you use Resunio. The short version: the CV and cover letter you write stay in your own browser, they are never sent to us, and we have no way of reading them. What we do receive is the ordinary technical information that reaching any website produces.

Who is responsible

Samuel Guijarro Camarena operates Resunio under the name SORUMEO and is the controller for the processing described here. The postal address and the contact details are on the imprint.

What stays on your device

Everything you type into the builder is saved in your browser’s local storage, on your own device. That includes your name, contact details, address, date of birth if you enter one, employment history, education, skills, languages, the text of any cover letter, and any photograph you add. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else.

The operations that produce a finished document run in the same place. The PDF is made by your browser’s own print engine. The Word file is assembled in the page. A backup file is written by your browser and saved wherever you choose; importing one reads it back the same way. A photograph is resized in the page before it is stored, and is never uploaded.

What we do receive

Requesting a page from a web server necessarily discloses something. Our hosting provider receives, and may log for a limited period, the IP address the request came from, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page if there is one, and the browser’s user-agent string. This is standard server logging, it is needed to deliver the site and to defend it against abuse, and it is not combined with anything else or used to build a profile.

There is no account, no sign-up and no login, so there is no profile of you anywhere in the service. We do not ask for an email address and there is no newsletter. If you write to the contact address, we hold that correspondence for as long as it takes to deal with it.

Storage and cookies

Local storage holds your documents and your interface preferences. No cookie is set unless you open cookie settings and record a choice there, and today there is nothing optional to choose. Neither is read by us: local storage is not sent with requests at all, and the cookie, if one exists, contains a short record of your own choice and nothing else. The cookie policy lists everything item by item.

Analytics and advertising

At the time of writing, no analytics provider and no advertising network is active on this site. The code contains the plumbing for both, switched off: nothing is loaded, nothing is measured and no third-party script runs. If either is ever switched on, it will be behind a consent request that is asked before anything loads, refusing will be exactly as easy as accepting, and this page and the cookie policy will be updated to name the provider before it goes live.

Why we process it, and on what basis

• Delivering the site and keeping it available and secure. Technical data only.
• Storing your documents on your device so they are still there when you come back. This is the service you asked for.
• Remembering your choice about optional technologies, so we do not ask on every visit.
• Answering you if you write to us.

Under Swiss data protection law, processing personal data does not as a rule require your consent; it requires that it be lawful, proportionate, transparent and in good faith, which is what this page is for. Where the GDPR also applies — broadly, if you are in the EEA — the bases are: our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (Art. 6(1)(f)) for technical data; performance of the service you requested (Art. 6(1)(b)) for storing your documents on your device; your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for anything optional, which is currently nothing.

Who else is involved

The site is served by Vercel Inc., acting as our processor, which handles the technical data described above.

If you write to us, your message and your email address sit in a mailbox run by Google (Gmail), which handles that correspondence on our behalf. That is the only other processor, and it is involved only because you chose to write. Nothing you type into the builder is disclosed to anyone, because nothing you type reaches us.

The typefaces the site uses are served from our own domain, not from a font network, so loading a page does not disclose your IP address to a third party. There are no embedded videos, maps, social buttons, comment widgets or tracking pixels anywhere on the site.

Transfers abroad, and how long

Because your documents never leave your device, they are never transferred anywhere. Server logs are held by Vercel Inc., which is based in the United States and serves the site from a worldwide network, so that technical data is processed outside Switzerland and the EEA; the transfer rests on the data-protection terms that provider offers its customers. If you write to us, your message is held by Google (Gmail) and is likewise processed outside Switzerland and the EEA. Logs are kept only for as long as the provider needs them for delivery and security, typically a matter of weeks, and correspondence is kept until the matter it concerns is finished. What is on your device stays there until you delete it, and you can delete all of it at any time from within the product or by clearing your browser data.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Keeping your documents on your own device removes the largest risk a CV tool normally carries, which is a breach of a central database of other people’s CVs — there is no such database. The corresponding risk moves to you: anyone with access to your device and browser profile can open what is stored there. On a shared or public computer, delete your CV when you finish.

Your rights

Swiss law gives you the right to ask whether personal data about you is being processed, to receive a copy, to have inaccurate data corrected and to have data deleted. Where the GDPR applies you additionally have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw a consent at any time without affecting what was done before.

In practice, most of this you can do yourself and faster than we could: your documents are on your device, the product lets you export and delete them, and clearing your browser storage removes everything. For anything else, and for the technical data held in server logs, write to the contact address on the imprint. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner in Switzerland, or, where the GDPR applies, to the supervisory authority of your country of residence.

Children

The service is meant for people old enough to be looking for work, and a school leaver writing a first CV is squarely among them. Since nothing is collected and no account exists, using it does not create a record of a young person anywhere.

Changes

If what the product does with data changes, this page changes with it and the date below changes too. A change that introduces something optional — measurement, advertising — will be asked for before it happens, not announced afterwards.
