What matters in this role

  • Your permits and their expiry. On most sites the paperwork decides whether you can be there at all, so it belongs at the top rather than in a certifications block on page two.
  • What you are authorised to test and sign off. It decides which work can be closed out without calling somebody else in.
  • The type and scale of installation: domestic, commercial fit-out, industrial, and roughly what value.
  • Whether you supervise. Leading a team changes the rate you can ask for.

Common mistakes

  • Listing jobs without saying what kind of installation they were.
  • Omitting certification dates, which makes a reader assume they have lapsed.
  • No mention of testing and certification, which is the difference between an electrician and one who can sign the work off.
  • Overlong descriptions. Site managers skim.
