What matters in this role

  • Shipment volume and the modes you handle. Road, sea and air are different skill sets.
  • On-time delivery and cost per unit, with a before and after.
  • Customs and documentation experience, named by system — e-dec, ATLAS, or the local equivalent.
  • Incoterms fluency, which is assumed but rarely evidenced.

Common mistakes

  • Describing the department rather than your own remit.
  • No volumes, so a reader cannot size the operation.
  • Leaving out the systems, which is the fastest filter.
  • Claiming cost savings without saying what was renegotiated.
