What matters in this role

  • Your degree class and your dissertation topic, if it is relevant. Both are legitimate evidence at this stage.
  • Placements and internships, with what you actually produced rather than what you observed.
  • Technical tools you can use unsupervised.
  • Any output someone else went on to use. That is the strongest signal a graduate CV can carry.

Common mistakes

  • Listing modules instead of what you did with them.
  • Describing a placement as “gained experience in” rather than naming an output.
  • Omitting part-time work because it was not in the field.
  • A generic summary that would fit any graduate of any subject.
